Long Lake Ski Area Manager

Thorhild County is seeking a suitable individual for the 2025/2026 season to carry out the following duties under the direction and supervision of the Manager of Community Services: 

• Work in conjunction with the Manager of Community Services and the Public Works Department to oversee all aspects of ski area operations, ensuring effective coordination, safety, and service delivery across all functional areas (ski area operation, including lift operation and maintenance, snow cat and snowmobile operation and maintenance, snow grooming and maintenance, snow making, risk management, rental equipment and repairs, ticket and rental shop, and cafeteria).
• Assist in hiring staff.
• Coordinate duties and shifts of staff to cover daily public or school instructional needs.
• Ensure health and safety standards are followed by employees and public.

• Report snow conditions or unscheduled closures.
• Book and coordinate ski schools and special group instructions.
• Supervision of outdoor lead, operators, cook, cashier, rental shop, instructors, and snow patrollers.
• Responsible for daily financial receipts, reports, operation records, accounting requirements. This includes daily cash-out, safe storage of cash and detailed report of skiers lift tickets, rental, instruction, and cafeteria sales.
• To monitor rental equipment on a continuous basis and provide up-to-date inventory tracking.

• Monitor staff timesheets and ensure timely submissions.
• Initial contact for any customer concerns or complaints.

• Ski area operation experience (3-5 years). This includes lift operations, grooming, patrolling, safety protocols, and guest services (food and rentals). 
• Team management and scheduling experience.
• Well-organized and excellent time management skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
• Basic-intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Records Check and Driver’s Abstract.
• Standard First Aid certification preferred or willing to obtain.

Pay range is ($30.84-$34.82) for this position. Hours of work will vary. Must be available to work weekends. Current employees of Thorhild County fulfilling the requirements essential to this position shall be considered for this position.
