Utilities FAQs

Residents must contact the utilities office to arrange to enter into utility agreements.

Utility Bills are issued on or about the 15th of every month for the previous months consumption and charges.  Payments are then due on the last day of every month.

A 2 % penalty is charged on any payments made after the due date. Payments made at the bank, banking machine or through telephone or internet banking are credited to the customer’s accounts on the date that the funds are deposited into the County’s bank account.

Please pay early enough to allow time for the payment to be processed.

Utility Bills can be paid

  • by mail,
  • internet banking,
  • at your local financial institution,
  • pre-authorized payments,
  • through option pay,
  • in person, or
  • through the Thorhild County drop box.

To arrange pre-authorized payments, applicants should fill in the  Pre-Authorized Payment Form and send it to the County office along with a blank voided cheque from the account from which payments are to be made for monthly utilities.

To arrange for E- Billing, send your account number, name, and address by email to utilities@thorhildcounty.com

Utility Bills can be redirected to a vacation home with 30 days notice.

Please contact the utilities office at 780-398-3741 ext. 2811 if you need additional information on these payment options.

No. The account has to remain under the property owner's name.   The owner is responsible for utility bills and non-payment of the utility bills will result in transfer of outstanding balances to the owner’s tax account, pursuant to County bylaws.
