All burn permit requests will be inspected by Fire Guardians for compliance and site-specific conditions may be imposed. There is up to a 72-hour turnaround for permits as our Fire Guardians are volunteer members of Thorhild County Emergency Services. No burning on peat land will be permitted. Residents and visitors to Thorhild County are advised to be diligent in fire safety practices while conducting any burning. Be cognizant of burning in winds over 15 km/h as they will dry fine fuels quickly and carry embers long distances leading to spotting and fast-moving surface fires.
