Water Break in the Hamlet of Thorhild
UPDATE – January 15, 2022: We’re pleased to advise that the water break in the hamlet of Thorhild has been located and repaired, and water services have been restored. Backfilling and clean-up activities are underway.
Utilities staff will be communicating directly with affected households and businesses on the upcoming water testing process. We want to thank residents for their cooperation.
January 15, 2022: Crews are continuing to excavate and locate the exact location of the water break on Hwy. 827. They've exposed the valve and pipe in front of the Co-op Grocery Store and will use a camera to find the original source of the problem. Once identified, they can begin the repair. In the meantime, affected residents have been contacted and offered water containers for their use until the repair is completed and water is tested.
Once the repair is complete, affected households will be notified and asked to flush their toilets and run their water taps. This will allow staff to test for chlorine levels and potential bacteria on Tuesday, January 18, once lines are flushed.
We want to thank residents and businesses for their understanding and patience during this water line break repair process.
