Custom Grading
Thorhild County operates a custom grading program for residents (excluding hamlets) who register and pay for custom grading. The grading of roads takes precedence over custom grading.
If the custom grading is required immediately, the resident should make arrangements with a private contractor.
Residents wishing to register for custom grading must sign an easement, fill out the application form and pay for the service.
Easements are effective from October 1st of one year to September 30th of the following year (i.e. Oct. 1, 2017 – Sept. 30, 2018). Easements can be signed at the Public Works office, Administration office and the Radway Post office during business hours.
The fee for custom grading is $150.00/hr (minimum charge of $75.00) for each occasion the custom work is carried out.
The applicant must clearly mark the route to be graded so that the grader is not in danger of being damaged or doing damage to property.
The applicant must be the registered owner of the property.
Requested location must be clear of rocks along the sides, overhanging trees and power lines must be at a minimum height of 15’ from the highest point of the road surface to the lowest point of the power line that the equipment must pass under. If these conditions are not met, graders will not provide custom grading.
