Thorhild County Update - May 9, 2025 2:23 p.m.

Event Description:

An Advisory Alert remains in effect for the Southeast portion of Thorhild County, between TWP Rd 590  (Correction Line) and the TWP Rd 580 (Sturgeon County Boundary) between Rge Rd 203 & Rge Rd 221 including the Hamlet of Radway.

The wildfire in the Redwater Provincial Recreation Area remains active.

Residents in the affected area may remain in their homes at this time but must be prepared to evacuate on short notice.

Alert Area: This alert is in effect for all residents in southeast portion Thorhild County, between TWP 590  (Correction Line) and the TWP 580 (Sturgeon County Boundary) between Rge Rd 203 & Rge Rd 221 including the Hamlet of Radway

Action to take:

Thorhild County has Fire Ban in effect

Be prepared to evacuate on short notice

Water quality testing is still underway. The precautionary Boil Water Advisory remains in effect until testing confirms there is no contamination. This will be the final Alberta Emergency Alert related to this Boil Water Advisory. Ongoing updates will be provided through the Town of Penhold’s website and social media channels. Area: (The Boil Water Advisory remains in effect for areas within Penhold south of Minto Street. )

During routine testing of the water supply, low chlorine levels were found. Water samples have been taken and are being processed by the provincial laboratory. A boil water advisory has been issued as a precaution. The precautionary Boil Water Advisory will remain in effect until water quality testing confirms there is no contamination. Area: (This alert is in effect for areas within Penhold South of Minto Street.)
