Road Conditions Update

With the recent warm weather and spring rainfall, melting snow is creating challenging conditions on many local roads. We ask all residents to use caution when travelling, particularly on muddy or water-covered surfaces. Please reduce your speed and allow extra time to reach your destination, adjusting your driving to current road conditions.

As frost leaves the ground, roadbeds become soft, allowing water to accumulate and creating uneven surfaces. Heavy traffic can further deteriorate these areas, especially on gravel roads, many of which have been affected.

Our Public Works crews are actively working throughout the county to maintain safe travel conditions, including clearing and steaming culverts to improve drainage. In some cases, excessive grading can worsen road conditions and make repairs more difficult, so maintenance efforts are being carefully managed. Once conditions improve, restoring gravel roads will be a top priority.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate the challenges of the spring season. If you notice any blocked or frozen culverts, please contact the Public Works office at 780-398-3977.
