Fire Restriction Downgraded to Fire Advisory

Effective June 16, 2023 at 10:00am

Thorhild County has lowered their Fire Restriction to a Fire Advisory. Wildfires are still burning aggressively throughout Alberta and Thorhild County urges everyone to use care when performing allowed activities. Strong winds can make fires unpredictable and difficult to contain. Ensure fire extinguishers or sources of water are readily available.

The following activities continue to be prohibited:
• Any fire requiring a Fire Permit

The following activities are allowed:
• Burn Barrels and Incinerators normally prohibited have been allowed in this advisory
• Recreational fires and back yard fire pits
• Propane and natural gas-powered appliances
• Charcoal barbeques

Off Highways vehicles are allowed within the borders of Thorhild County including public lands. Care should be used to ensure these vehicles do not become a source of ignition. Carrying a fire extinguisher on the vehicle is recommended.
