Drainage Mitigation Plan

Thorhild County is seeking proposals for the development of a Drainage Mitigation Plan covering several hamlets, licensed drainage projects, and high-risk areas within the County.

The Drainage Mitigation Plan will establish a prioritized 10-year implementation strategy, recommending both operational and capital investments to mitigate the impacts of 10-year, 20-year, and 50-year storm events.

At 7:43 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time Saturday, Environment Canada has updated a severe thunderstorm warning for North Central Alberta. Extra care and attention should be exercised. The following localities are included in the warning: Lac Ste. Anne County, Wildwood and Parkland County. Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking an extremely dangerous thunderstorm capable of producing damaging wind gusts, baseball size or greater hail and heavy rain. At 6:50 p.m. MDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm that is possibly producing a tornado. Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible. The thunderstorm is just west of MacKay and is moving to the east at 45 km/h. The storm is likely producing hail the size of ping pong to tennis ball size. ### This is a very dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation.
