Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, Thorhild County is seeking a suitable individual to carry out the following:

Responsible for management, budget, and reporting for the following areas:

  • Community and Recreational Services           
  • Economic Development
  • Emergency Services                                         
  • Emergency Management
  • Enforcement Services                                                 
  • Planning & Development
  • Legislative Services
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage, and monitor the County Services department.
  • Develop and implement operational and capital budgets.
  • Ability to encourage teamwork, coach, and mentor staff.
  • Facilitate communication between internal departments, external agencies, associations, and other operational areas.
  • Develop, implement, and interpret policies, bylaws, and legislation for each service department.
  • Ensure all inquiries and complaints are handled quickly and courteously.
  • Responsible for county communications (advertising, website, and social media accounts).
  • Act as Deputy Director of Emergency Management.
  • Act as Access to Information Coordinator.
  • Responsible for Municipal Election duties.
Required Qualifications
  • Professional designations and/or equivalent experience in one or more areas of the County Services Department. Certified Local Government Managers (CLGM) is preferred, or a post-secondary degree in a discipline related to municipal service delivery and a minimum of 5 years municipal senior management experience.
  • ICS-300 certification is preferred.
  • A broad range of municipal experience in a multi-faceted and challenging fast-paced department.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Municipal Government Act (MGA) and other legislative and procedural requirements.
  • Advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Records Check.

  • Knowledge and experience of municipal operations.

Thorhild County offers a comprehensive benefit program. Salary for this position will be determined by the candidate’s education and experience. Salary range is $125,078-$159,392. Current employees of Thorhild County fulfilling the requirements essential to this position shall be considered.

An extremely dangerous man, Curtis Halliday, has multiple firearms and has already shot at multiple individuals near Grande Prairie. Curtis is 6 foot 3, caucasion with brown eyes and brown hair. He is on the run in a black 2022 Ford F-350, licence plate CMZ0105. Curtis was last known to be in the area northwest of Grande Prairie near LaGlace. Area: (This alert is in effect for northwestern Alberta, between Grande Prairie, Rycroft, and the B.C. border.)
