Thorhild County maintains a Municipal Emergency Management Plan that details steps to be taken in the event of an emergency occurring within the County.  Such emergencies could include incidents involving wildfires, dangerous goods, utility and water failures, extreme weather and environmental incidents and transportation incidents.

Information Alert Update - Traffic Hazard - Jun 16, 2022 at 04:44PM

This is an Alberta Emergency Alert. Municipal District of Willow Creek No. 26 has updated the Traffic Hazard Alert. This alert is in effect for: Willow Creek #26. A 2 vehicle collision has occurred on Highway 519 at Range Road 254, east of Granum. Highway 519 between Highway 2 and Highway 23 is closed. Both vehicles are on fire. One vehicle is carrying canola oil that is actively leaking into the irrigation canal and is being allowed to burn in place to reduce contamination. Water flow has been reduced. Containment resources are on route. No injuries. If you are in the affected area: The road is closed. Use alternate routes. Avoid the area. Follow the directions of local authorities, and listen for further updates. For details visit or stay tuned to local media.
