severe thunderstorm warning in effect

At 7:24 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time Thursday, Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for North Central Alberta. Extra care and attention should be exercised in and around the following localities: Leduc, Camrose, Wetaskiwin, Tofield, Edmonton, St. Albert and Sherwood Park. Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a very dangerous thunderstorm capable of producing destructive wind gusts. Area: (City of Edmonton - St. Albert - Sherwood Park, Leduc Co. near Leduc Beaumont and Kavanagh, Leduc Co. near New Sarepta and Rolly View, Co. of Wetaskiwin near Wetaskiwin Millet and Hwy 2, Strathcona Co. near Ardrossan and Cooking Lake, Beaver Co. near Tofield, Camrose Co. near Hay Lakes and Miquelon Lake Prov. Park, Camrose Co. near Camrose and Bittern Lake, Camrose Co. near New Norway Edberg and Ferintosh)

This is an Alberta Emergency Alert. The Town of Slave Lake and MD of Lessar Slave River have issued a wildfire alert.

There is a wildfire burning northeast of Town of Slave Lake and east of Highway 88. Everyone in the Town of Slave Lake including properties along Devonshire Road North should be prepared to evacuate within 8 hours. Everyone in the impacted area of MD of Lessar Slave River should be prepared to evacuate within 4 hours. NO EVACUATION IS REQUIRED AT THIS TIME Area: (This alert is in effect for the Town of Slave Lake including properties along Devonshire Road North and everyone in the MD of Lessar Slave River located in the Hamlet of Marten Beach, Summerwood, TWPRD 740 and Gillwood Golf Course.)
