Emergency Alerts

This is an Alberta Emergency Alert. Yellowhead County has issued a Wildfire Alert. There is a wildfire west of Mercoal.

The wildfire is currently classified as out of control and is about 70 hectares in size and burning towards the north north-east. Firefighters, airtankers, helicopters and heavy equipment operators are responding to wildfire EWF030. Yellowhead County firefighters are preparing for structural protection of buildings in the area. Area: (The Wildfire is located 6 km west of Mercoal and 16 km southwest of Robb.)

severe thunderstorm warning in effect

At 7:24 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time Thursday, Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for North Central Alberta. Extra care and attention should be exercised in and around the following localities: Leduc, Camrose, Wetaskiwin, Tofield, Edmonton, St. Albert and Sherwood Park. Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a very dangerous thunderstorm capable of producing destructive wind gusts. Area: (City of Edmonton - St. Albert - Sherwood Park, Leduc Co. near Leduc Beaumont and Kavanagh, Leduc Co. near New Sarepta and Rolly View, Co. of Wetaskiwin near Wetaskiwin Millet and Hwy 2, Strathcona Co. near Ardrossan and Cooking Lake, Beaver Co. near Tofield, Camrose Co. near Hay Lakes and Miquelon Lake Prov. Park, Camrose Co. near Camrose and Bittern Lake, Camrose Co. near New Norway Edberg and Ferintosh)
