Thorhild County residents are advised that pavement preservation (crack sealing) work is underway at several locations throughout the County over the next few days, weather permitting. This preventative maintenance is an important part of preserving the lifespan of existing roadways.
Work is scheduled to take place in the following areas:
- Opal Road: Work began Tuesday morning and is expected to be completed by Wednesday.
- Hamlet of Thorhild: Work is anticipated to begin as early as Wednesday afternoon but may not start until Thursday morning, depending on progress and weather conditions.
- Long Lake and Radway: Work is expected to take place on Thursday and may continue into Friday morning if weather or site conditions cause delays.
Construction crews will generally be working between 4:30am and 2:30pm. During this time, motorists may encounter temporary traffic control measures, including single-lane traffic in active work zones. Residents and visitors are reminded to follow all posted signage and directions from traffic control personnel, reduce their speed when travelling through work areas, and avoid driving over fresh hot-pour crack sealant whenever possible. These precautions help protect both the roadway treatment and the safety of workers on site.
As part of this work, temporary street-side parking restrictions will also be in effect within the Hamlet of Thorhild to provide crews with safe access to complete the project. The temporary parking ban will be in effect from Wednesday at 12:00pm until Thursday at 12:00pm and applies to the following roadways:
- 2 Avenue
- 4 Avenue
- 6 Avenue
- 7 Avenue
- 7 Street
Residents are asked to remove any vehicles parked along these streets before the restrictions take effect. This will help crews complete the work safely and efficiently while minimizing delays.
Thorhild County appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents during this important infrastructure maintenance project. Please note that all work schedules are subject to change based on weather and site conditions.
