Thorhild & District Community Adult Learning Council (CALC) is one of approximately 80 Community Adult Learning Councils in the province of Alberta. The mandate of the Volunteer Board is to administer local adult education programs.

Utilizing available resources, adult learning programs are offered that encourage “life long learning”. Below are a few examples:

  • Employment Enhancement Training (i.e. Computer Training, First Aid, etc.)
  • English as a Second Language
  • Distance Learning
  • Fitness and Health
  • General Interest and Community Needs Courses
  • One-on-One Learning

Program flyers are released two times a year in late August and early January.

One-on-One Learning

This is a free opportunity.

Personalize your learning. Whether you’re looking to learn
about computers, iPads, cell phones, reading, writing, how to properly fill out a form,
creating resumes, or any number of other topics, we are here to help! Not sure if we can
help? Give us a call and ask!
To learn more, please contact the Thorhild Adult Learning Program @ 780 398-2804

English as a Second Language:  Thorhild & District Community Adult Learning Council is pleased to offer ESL Courses (English as a Second Language).  At this time, sessions are one-on-one and the timing of the sessions is dependent on the volunteer tutor's and student's schedule.  There is no cost to the student.  For more information contact 780-398-2804.

Do you have a special talent? Are you interested in being one of our instructors? Would you like to volunteer your time with our organization? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, please call us!

Registration Information

  • Please call 780-398-2804 to register or to inquire about a program.
  • Course registrations must be received at least one week prior to program beginning to avoid the disappointment of a course being cancelled because we did not know you were interested.
  • You are not considered registered until your fee is paid. Payments can be made at the County office by Cash, Cheque, Debit, Visa or MasterCard during regular working hours.
