Fire Protection Services
Fire Protection Services, delivered from the Thorhild, Radway
and Newbrook/Long Lake Fire Departments, are coordinated
by this department.
County residents are required to obtain a Burn Permit year
round with the exception of the following:
- Attended outdoor contained camp fires which have been lit
for cooking or warming purposes.
- Incinerator fire, contained within a non-combustible structure,
container or barrel with openings covered by a heavy gauge
screen (mesh size no larger than 6mm). These are used for
the purpose of burning refuse, protecting livestock from insects,
or for protecting garden plants from frost.
- Subject to Provincial/Municipal Fire Bans
If it is necessary for a Fire Department to respond, the following
rates will be charged to the occupant/owner:
- $150 for the first hour (minimum charge)
- $100 for each additional hour plus other equipment costs as
may be incurred
- $300/hour to respond to a MVA or highway fire.
