The ultimate decision-makers in any municipality are those members
who are elected to serve on Municipal Council.
Council Members are elected to represent the interests of their
constituents. County Council is responsible for setting goals for the
County, establishing business plans and setting budgets and policies
for the County. The County Manager, Department Heads and staff are responsible for the day-to day operation of the County. While Councillors
are expected to be aware of the actions, which staff are taking as a
result of the directives of Council as a whole, the members of Council
are not expected to become involved in the day-to-day administration
of the municipality. The respective roles of Council and Administration
are established under the Municipal Government Act.
