Public Works

The Thorhild County Public Works Department is responsible for the construction and maintenance of infrastructure within the County.  Department tasks include road bans, road construction, access approaches, gravelling, road maintenance, ditching, road side mowing, sweeping, overweight permits, dust control, snow removal, flood control, bridges and signage on County roads.

When necessary, Public Works also provides equipment and manpower to support Emergency Services responses.

The Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance of approximately 1258 km of rural gravel roads and paved roads, street and back alley maintenance in seven hamlets and four subdivisions.

There are several roads and bridges that continue to be closed due to the flood damage.

Road Use Permits & Agreements Effective June 15 2018 

Thorhild County has entered int a user agreement with TRAVIS MJ, whereby all over-dimensional and overweight loads will requite permits.   Roadata is the service provider.

Sand and Gravel Shipments Quarterly Report

As of July 1, 2018 the Community Aggregate Payment Levy will be increased from $.25 per tonne to $0.40 per tonne.  All Operators in Thorhild County shall report all shipments of Aggregate in tonnes from any Pit within the boundaries of Thorhild County on a quarterly basis.
